Is Jesus Right for Me
In the Holy Bible, the scriptures show us that Jesus is the only solution to our deepest needs. So, let’s explore what the Bible teaches us about why we need Jesus and the transformative impact He can have on our lives if we accept Him.
The Problem of Sin:
The Bible teaches us that all of humanity is affected by sin, which separates us from a perfect and holy God. Sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and Eve, and its consequences have permeated every aspect of human existence. The Bible affirms that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Our sinful nature hinders our relationship with God and prevents us from experiencing true fulfillment and eternal life. However, the good news is you can be forgiven of your sins by accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior. By putting your faith in Christ, you will turn your life over to Him and live the type of life He wants you to live including obeying God’s rules (the ten commandments) and learning to love one another.
The Need for Redemption:
Recognizing the problem of sin, the Bible teaches us the need for redemption. God’s love for humanity is demonstrated through His plan of salvation, which centers around Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that Jesus, as the Son of God, willingly came to earth, lived a sinless life, and offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins on the cross. Through his death on the cross, Jesus paid the price for our redemption, offering forgiveness and reconciliation with God for those who put their faith in Christ.
The Bridge to God:
Jesus serves as the bridge that reconnects humanity with God. In John 14:6, Jesus declares, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” The Bible teaches us that Jesus is the only means by which we can have a restored relationship with God. Through faith in Jesus, we can experience salvation, receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and have direct access to God’s presence and guidance.
The Source of Abundant Life:
The Bible teaches that Jesus offers abundant life to all who believe in him. In John 10:10, Jesus states, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Through a personal relationship with Jesus, we can experience spiritual transformation, inner peace, and a sense of purpose. Jesus offers us the opportunity to live a life characterized by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
The Promise of Eternal Life:
God’s promise of eternal life is through Jesus Christ. In John 3:16, it is written, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Through faith in Jesus, and not our good works, we can have the assurance of eternal life in the presence of God, free from the consequences of sin and death.
The Bible teaches us that we need Jesus because of our sinful nature, the need for redemption, and the desire for a restored relationship with God. Jesus serves as the bridge that reconnects us to God, offering abundant life and the promise of eternal salvation. By accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you can experience forgiveness, transformation, and a deep sense of purpose but most importantly have eternal life.
