What is your spiritual gift?
Are you a Christ follower—born again? If so, may I ask, “what is your spiritual gift or gifts?”
Just what is a spiritual gift? It is a supernatural ability given to you by God and through the Holy Spirit at the moment of your salvation. Ephesians 4:8 reads “When he ascended on high, he took many captives and gave gifts to his people”.
And yes, you can have more than one spiritual gift. 1 Corinthians 12:11 reads “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines”.
So, let’s jump in—the Bible lists eighteen separate spiritual gifts—they are found in Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4.
There are seven sign gifts: Apostleship, Prophecy, Miracles, Healing, Tongues, Interpretation of tongues, and Knowledge.
There are eleven stewardship gifts: Wisdom, Discernment of spirits, Giving, Exhortation, Ministering, Mercy showing, Ruling-administration, Faith, Teaching, Evangelism, and Pastor/Teacher.
FYI—it is likely that most of the sign gifts have ceased today. But we cannot forget who God is—God can use these gifts whenever He chooses!
So, the bottom line—you can determine what your spiritual gifts are by the following:
God will reveal His gifts to you when you surrender your will to Him, Romans 12:1-2
- Bible study, 2 Timothy 3:14-17
- Prayer, Luke 11:9-10 and James 1:5
- Let other believers evaluate you, 1 Kings 19:15-16
- What is your desire as a Christ follower, 1 Timothy 3:1
- What are your abilities—what has God assigned you to do.
Now that you know what your spiritual gift(s) is—go practice it!
You will glorify the Son of God, Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being”.
You and other believers will receive the most good, Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.
And you will be edified, Ephesians 4:12-13 “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.
