Temptation is the threshold to sin! A desire to do something wrong or unwise. Temptation denotes a trial in which everyone has a free choice of being faithful or unfaithful to God. The cause of temptation comes from your mind, your inward desire to an outward occasion or object.
How does one overcome temptation… Be honest with yourself, recognize potential situations. Remove yourself in body and mind from the current environment. Distract yourself, think of the long term consequences. And most importantly ‘PRAY’.  You do not have to be a slave to temptation or sin. Temptation does not have dominion over you.
Temptation has been with us since the beginning of life. Eve was deceived by satan, he did not cause her to sin, she chose to sin. Satan tried to make Eve think sin is good, pleasant, and desirable. Satan is the author of deceit. God provides us with a free will, we have the ability to make choices. A guilty conscience is a warning signal from God placed inside you that goes off when you have done something wrong.
As mentioned before prayer is key to over come temptations. Don’t be conformed to this world, be transform by renewing your mind and reading God’s word.
In James 1 the Bible says ‘ we should count it all joy when you fall into various trials and temptations , knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience and draws us closer to God.’
Some additional Bible  verses to help you with your journey.
Psalms 145. The Lord is near to them who call upon him.
Psalms 66. Oh Lord hear my voice in prayer. You are my refuge.
Psalms 71. Create in me a pure heart, renew my spirit, deliver me from the grasp of the evil one.
1 Corinthians 10:13. God is faithful, He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to handle, but with the temptation will also make way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
Psalms 37. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
Philippians 4. Rejoice in the Lord always, let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or fear circumstances, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And let the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

What does God say about going to church?

See all articles by James McClain here.

Have you had some of these thoughts?  Go to the lake or to church?  Play golf or go to church?  Or this is my day off so forget church!  Or the thought that the church is full of hypocrites so I am not going!  I don’t like the music so forget it!  Stayed out too late the night before—so I won’t go!  All they want is my money!  We could add a lot more.

Have you found a good church to attend?  If not, continue to search for a Christ- centered and biblically-balanced church.  They really do exist.  If you truly belong to Christ you should have the desire to worship God, to receive His Word, and fellowship with other believers.  What does God say straight from the Bible.

Church attendance is God’s will for believers.  Hebrews 10:25 states “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching”.

In the church setting believers can:

Love one another.  I John 4:12

Encourage one another.  Hebrews 3:13

Serve one another.  Galatians 5:13

Instruct one another.  Romans 15:14

Exercise our spiritual gifts.  I Peter 4:10

Practice forgiveness.  Matthew 6:14-15

If you do not know Jesus, God’s Son, accept Him and make Him your Lord and Savior.

Continue Your Journey

I hope you have enjoyed all the information—the videos, podcasts and articles.  The purpose is to provide you the “meat” rather than the “milk” found in God’s Word.

I want you to lead a victorious Christian life.  Now is the time to share the Gospel message like never before.

Keep the following thoughts in mind.

Just as the Apostle Paul told Timothy—and may this apply to you—“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).

Keep your eyes open and be ready at all times (Mark 13:37) for the Blessed Hope (Titus 2:13).

Don’t forget—things are not falling apart, but are falling into place, God is in control.
